We are delighted to welcome you on our website. With the explanations below we want to assure you that we are serious about protecting your personal data, because data protection is a top priority at CarDelMar. All of CarDelMar’s employees undergo privacy training to raise their awareness of the subject of data protection and to introduce them to the standards of CarDelMar. Naturally, at CarDelMar all client data is treated as highly confidential and used only for the purpose for which it was provided. Your data are only forwarded to the contract partner with whom a car rental contract has been concluded. We will never sell or lend your data to any third parties.

3. Capturing and using personal data

You can generally access our website without entering any personal data. However, personal data is needed in order to process car rental reservations through the CarDelMar website. Some of the data which you provide for the purpose of renting a vehicle will be forwarded to local car rental companies for implementing the contract at your destination. The data in question is the first name and surname of the principal driver. In case of association the personal data required for a car rental reservation will be shared with the associated partner. Your personal data is not forwarded to any other third parties unless we are obliged to do so by law or other official regulation, e.g. in support of the fight against credit card misuse. All personal data will be destroyed in the event that the company is closed down.

4. Tracking technologies

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc (“Google”). Google Analytics employs cookies, i.e. text files which are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of the manner in which you use the website.

The information gathered by cookies on your usage of this website (including your IP address) is transferred to a Google server in the US and stored there. Google uses that information to evaluate your usage of the website in order to compile reports on website activities for the operators of the website and to render further services in connection with using the website and the internet.

Google will forward such information to third parties if necessary, i.e. if required to do so by law or if third parties process such data on behalf of Google. Under no circumstances will Google connect your IP address with other Google data. You are able to prevent the installation of cookies by changing your browser settings accordingly. Please note, however, that this may prevent you from having full use of this website.

By using this website you agree to the processing of your data by Google in the manner and for the purpose described above.

Given the legal discussion about employing Google Analytics with full IP addresses we want to point out that we use Google Analytics only with the ‘anonymize Ip()’ extension. As a result only a shortened version of your IP address is processed, making it impossible to link the address to your person.

With a deactivation add-on for your browser you can also stop Google Analytics from capturing your data. The add-on prevents Google Analytics from transferring information about your website visit. To use this function, just download and install the appropriate add-on for your browser. It is available for Internet Explorer (7 and 8), Google Chrome (4.x and up) and Mozilla Firefox (3.5 and up).

If your current browser is not listed here we recommend that you install a browser for which the deactivation add-on is available.

Use of Google Remarketing

This website uses Google Remarketing, a technology from Google, whose purpose is to show Internet users interest-based advertising. Third party organizations, including Google, rotate online advertising on a variety of Internet portals. These third-party organizations, including Google, use cookie based advertising to enhance the experience of previous visitors. You can disable the use of Google cookies by visiting the page to disable Google ads. Alternatively, you can disable the use of cookies by third parties by visiting the page of the Network Advertising Initiative.

Use of Facebook social plug-ins

Our website uses plug-ins of the facebook.com social network which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304 USA (“Facebook”). The plug-ins are characterized by the Facebook logo or the addition "Facebook social plug-in".

When you enter a site containing a plug-in, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Facebook servers. Facebook transfers the plug-in content directly to your browser which in turn ties it into the website.

By incorporating the plug-in Facebook receives the information that you have entered on the respective page of our website. If you are also logged into Facebook at that time, your visit to our site is allocated to your Facebook account. By interacting with the plug-ins, e.g. clicking the “like” button or adding commentary, your browser transfers that information directly to Facebook, where it is stored.

For more details on the purpose and extent of data captured by Facebook, how it is processed and used, as well as your rights and possibilities to protect your privacy by changing your computer settings accordingly, please see Facebook’s information on data protection.

If you do not want Facebook to capture your data while visiting our website, you have to log out of Facebook before you enter our pages.

5. Recording of web server data / log files:

Under section 15 of the German Telemedia Act (TMG) website operators are not allowed to store the full IP address of a user, unless this information is required for invoicing. Therefore we store a shortened version of the IP address, rendered anonymous by deleting the last octet. Thus, no conclusions can be drawn to a specific person in accordance with the Telemedia Act.

6. Newsletter

You can subscribe to our newsletter by completing the newsletter registration form. You will then be notified on a regular basis about exclusive offers, new destinations and competitions on the subject of rental cars. You can cancel your subscription to the newsletter at any time.

To unsubscribe, simply click on the cancellation link in the newsletter and your address will automatically be deleted from our distribution list. Alternatively you can send an email to unsubscribeus@cardelmar.com. You are not automatically registered for the newsletter when you book a rental car through our website.

7. Changes to the privacy policy statement

In order to ensure that the car rental and additional services work smoothly, it may become necessary to use your data for different purposes than those given at the time when your personal data was received. In that case we will immediately notify you by email. You are entitled to object to differing usage.

If changes to our privacy policy statement do not affect existing client data, such changes will be announced on our website.

8. Access to your data

You are entitled at any time to request by letter or email information about your data stored by CarDelMar Ferienautovermietung GmbH. Should you wish to have your data deleted we are happy to oblige unless we are required to store them for legal reasons.

9. Disclosure of your data

Under no circumstances will we sell or lend or in any other way disclose your data to third parties unless we are obliged to do so by law or other official regulation, e.g. in support of the fight against credit card misuse.

10. Security

The CarDelMar website is secured with a 128-bit Thawte encryption. Before being sent to the internet, sensitive data and transactions - e.g. your personal data and credit card details - are encoded by the SSL system (secure socket layer) and thus secured. SSL encryption means that third parties cannot read these data during transfer, which makes it even safer than data transfer by telephone.

Should you have any questions about processing of your personal data, please contact us at privacypolicy@cardelmar.com.
