Discover Miami with your car rental

The city of Miami is always in beat with the pulse of the times. Expensive stores, elegant restaurants, stylishly clothed bodies and a lot of sun, beach and sea. The landmarks of this tropical city are all very well known. There are also other attractive parts of the city, though. There is the Cuban quarter around the Calle Ocho, the Bayside Marketplace in the harbor of Miami or the Parrot Jungle Trail.

The port of Miami beckons with a mixture of relaxed atmosphere, good shopping and good restaurants. The Bayfront Park directly on the port is a pretty, little park on the shores of Biscayne Bay, directly next to downtown Miami.

Take a trip there and stroll along the water. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the calm bay and the salt from the sea-soaked air. Go north for a while and you will reach the Bayside Marketplace. The exotic restaurants there tempt with delicious food and excellent cocktails and the many stores invite you to go shopping.

In the harbor there are yachts and cruise ships and the slight feeling of the port lets you forget the noise of the city. You have a great view of the Watson Park which is on the opposite shore. Here you will also find the Parrot Jungle Trail. The free-flying exotic parrots are approachable and they are more than happy to land on your shoulders.

In order to get to the port you have drive east along the I – 195 and exit on Biscayne Boulevard. Follow Biscayne Boulevard heading south and after around 2.5 miles you will reach Bayfront Park and the Bayside Marketplace. In order to get to Watson Park you have to go back to the I - 195 and head east. You then exit right after the bridge.

If you’re in Miami then don’t miss a chance to visit the Cuban district, also known as Little Havana.  The district was founded during the sixties by refugees and opponents of Fidel Castro. Today roughly 800,000 Cubans or Americans with Cuban backgrounds live here. The streets are lively and vivid and there are street cafés and food stands with Cuban dishes and refreshing drinks. The most famous street in the bustling district is Calle Ocho. Here the flair of Little Havana is the strongest. Enjoy a Cuba Libre in one of the bars and escape for a moment to Cuba.

You can best reach the district from west to east on the Express Way. Take the 27th Avenue exit and head south. Two blocks further is where Calle Ocho begins. It is a one-way street going east that can be reached from the parallel 7th Street.

Would you like to escape the big city of Miami for a day? Then a trip to the gorgeous peninsula Key Biscayne is highly recommended. The beautiful villas and the large, sugar-white beaches under blue skies invite you to dream. Just put your feet up for the day and enjoy your vacation. You can swim a few laps and then eat in a good restaurant. The adjacent parks are also beautiful and invite you to take a walk in one. A couple of cool drinks will make your experience perfect and everything that is not important will be in the background. You reach Key Biscayne via the Rickenbacker Causeway, which begins to the southeast of Miami.
