Burlington is located in the state of Vermont on the picturesque Lake Champlain. The city is the largest in the state with its nearly 40,000 residents. Something delicious can be found at Lake Champlain Chocolates. The chocolate factory sells its self-made goodies at the same time. Tours through the factory are offered and you can choose from over five hundred flavors you favorite chocolate. Truffle, chocolate candies, pralines and even kosher chocolate is offered.
Another kind of craft is found at Woodbury’s of Vermont. For more than 63 years now, this crafting company has been making wooden objects. All kinds of woods and processing techniques are used and visitors are welcome to watch the production. Things like plates, bowls, hand-painted cutlery, vases, small objects like candleholders, accessories and much more is manufactured here.
You should not miss visiting the Echo, an Aquarium and science museum that was opened in 2003. Visitors find more than 60 species of fish in the aquarium and also reptiles and amphibians, such as frogs and turtles. The visitor can even act as a paleontologist and excavate the bones of a beluga whale with a scraper and brush. In addition, you will learn something about the geology and ecology of Lake Champlain. Visitors can build mountains with their own power or destroy them by erosion. Those who would like to can also appear on TV as a guest weather speaker and announce the upcoming weather predictions.
