Booking Tips for Rental Cars

Tips regarding reservations with CarDelMar 

Here are a few tips to enable our customers to reserve their rental car easily.

With CarDelMar, you are able to book inexpensive packages with refund of excess.

These include:

  • Comprehensive collision insurance with refund of the excess in the case of damage
  • Car theft insurance with refund of the excess in the case of loss
  • Liability insurance based on the Terms and Conditions of the local rental agency
  • Unlimited mileage
  • All local taxes
  • Airport delivery
  • Airport fees

The prices quoted by CarDelMar are up-to-date, i.e. the price quoted is the valid daily price.  If you change your reservation (e.g. a new rental period, vehicle group or country), you will be charged the original reservation price.

 

Information on Refuelling
There are three options for filling the fuel tank on return of the rental car:

The first option is empty to empty - i.e. the fuel tank is empty when the car is collected and should be returned empty.
The second option is full to full - i.e. the tank is full when the car is collected and should be returned full.
The third option is full to empty - i.e. the car is full when it is collected and is returned empty.  In this case, the full tank of fuel must be paid for in advance on collection.

Please note which option is quoted in the contract with the local rental agency, in order to avoid any extra costs.

CarDelMar will reimburse the excess when the package with refund of excess has been chosen
The rental price includes comprehensive insurance, or similar, in respect of damage to the rental car, together with theft insurance. If the local rental agency only offers coverage with excess, they will retain the amount not covered by the comprehensive insurance from your deposit, up to the amount of the excess.  Please note: many of our rental agency partners require a credit card as security for the excess/ deposit. If the hire car is involved in an accident, damaged or stolen, the rental company will retain the amount not covered by the comprehensive insurance from the excess or deposit.

CarDelMar will refund the excess/ deposit under package with refund of excess in accordance with the following conditions:

In the event of loss or damage, the following points should be observed:
- Notify the car rental agency immediately.
- Inform the police in the case of an accident, and ensure that you receive a copy of the police report.  Provide CarDelMar with a copy of the police report.
- On return of the vehicle, ensure that a damage report is prepared and signed by the local rental agency and by you.  This report is also to be given to CarDelMar.

To obtain a refund, please submit the following documents to CarDelMar:

  • The damage report, signed by the local rental agency and by you
  • The police report
  • Copy of the rental contract
  • Payment verification, showing that the deposit was paid in cash or charged to your credit card

Exemptions to the reimbursement of excess/deposit are as follows:

  • Damage due to failure to observe the general terms and conditions of rental, especially in the case of damage caused by driving on unmade roads
  • Damage caused by drunk or negligent driving
  • Loss of or damage to the car keys
  • Damage to the tyres, glass, roof, chassis or oil sump
  • Loss resulting from theft of personal belongings left in the rental car, and
  • Other costs such as: vehicle recovery costs, hotel costs etc. and the loss of personal belongings

Please note, that no refund will generally be given if the insurance company does not settle the main claim.  In this case, the conditions of the rental contract with the local rental agency apply.
